1. What Notchi is

Notchi is a macOS app from Lofi Lab that lives in your Mac's notch. A copy downloaded before January 1, 2027 is free; from that date, a new download costs a one-time $11.99 (§8). Its source code is public on GitHub. These terms cover your use of the app, of Notchi's own models and Notchi credit, and of notch.website.

2. Your account

Notchi doesn't ask for your name, email, or a password. At launch the app registers an anonymous account with our server, identified by a token kept in your Mac's Keychain. The account holds your Notchi credit. Requests to Notchi's own models, and to Jev, go through our server; everything else you type stays on your Mac or goes directly to the AI provider you configure. The Privacy Policy says what our server records.

3. Your keys, your providers

Apart from Notchi's own models, AI answers come from third-party providers (OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, and others) that you connect yourself, with your own key or account. Your use of those services — including their costs, rate limits, and content policies — is governed by their terms, not ours. You're responsible for the requests sent under your key.

Notchi's own models are run by model providers named in the Privacy Policy. Requests to them must also follow those providers' usage policies.

4. Your content

Notes and reminders you save belong to you and live in Apple Notes / Apple Reminders on your own devices. We claim no rights over anything you type. See the Privacy page for what the app does (and doesn't) collect.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Notchi to break the law, or to violate the policies of the AI provider answering your questions. Don't create accounts to collect gift credit more than once.

6. AI output

Answers come from third-party models and can be wrong. They're not professional advice — medical, legal, financial or otherwise — so verify anything important.

7. "As is"

The app and Notchi's own models are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lofi Lab is not liable for damages arising from your use of the app — including provider costs, data loss, or the consequences of acting on an AI answer.

8. Price

A copy of Notchi downloaded before January 1, 2027 is free. From January 1, 2027, a new download costs $11.99, paid once. There is no subscription.

9. Notchi credit

Requests to Notchi's own models are paid from prepaid Notchi credit. You buy credit through Stripe, from $1 to $200 at a time. It is not a subscription. Credit you buy does not expire. Gift credit expires on the date shown in the app, and gifts are given while a campaign runs and its budget lasts. Credit can't be withdrawn as cash or moved to another account.

Each request is charged from the token counts reported by the model provider; when a provider does not report them, the charge is estimated. Costs and balances shown in the app are therefore approximate and may differ slightly from the actual cost of a request. Each model's prices are shown in the app, and we may change them; a change applies to requests made after it.

When your balance runs low, the last request may cost more than what is left. That request is still answered, your balance is set to $0.00, and the difference is not charged. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lofi Lab is not liable for differences between the charges shown and the actual cost of your requests.

10. Changes

We may update the app and these terms; the current version always lives at this page. Continuing to use Notchi after a change means you accept the updated terms.
