What Notchi asks macOS for.

Accessibility

Used to read the text selected in the app in front, for three features: a prompt shortcut, a force click on selected text, and opening the notch, which brings the selection in as a quote. In apps that don't expose the selection, Notchi copies it with ⌘C and puts your clipboard back. Password fields are skipped.

Without it, those three features can't see what you selected. Everything else works.

Notes automation

Used to save a line to Apple Notes. If you save notes to a Markdown folder instead (Settings → General → Destination), this is never asked for.

Reminders

Used to add a line that names a time to Apple Reminders.

Notifications

Used to tell you an answer or an agent task has finished after you moved on.

Clipboard (macOS 15.4 and later)

Copy sensing reads the clipboard while the notch is closed. If macOS asks, Notchi asks once per launch. If you deny it, Copy sensing does nothing; pasting into the notch still works.

Not asked for

Screen Recording, Microphone, Camera and Location. Notchi is not sandboxed, because it launches the coding-agent CLIs, so it has your account's ordinary file access; it only touches its own data and the project folders you hand an agent.
